Our Approach

Taking the first step shouldn't feel like the hardest.

Seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, confusing, or even intimidating. At Jauregui Psychiatry, the goal is to make that first step easier through care built on listening, transparency, respect, and collaboration.

Every patient brings a different history, different challenges, and different goals. Rather than reducing care to symptoms or a diagnosis, we take time to understand the person behind them.

Treatment recommendations are individualized, evidence-based, and developed together so patients understand their options and remain actively involved in their care.

Why the Guava

Humility, resilience, and beauty.

The guava in our story is more than a symbol—it's personal. My parents came from humble beginnings, picking guava in the orchards of Zacatecas, Mexico. Their journey taught me lessons that continue to shape the way I care for others: to meet people with humility, treat them with dignity, and understand their story without judgment or pretense.

Guava trees are remarkably resilient. They can take root, grow, and bear fruit even in difficult conditions. In many ways, that reflects the work of healing. Life rarely gives us perfect circumstances in which to grow. Often, resilience develops precisely during the seasons that challenge us most.

And despite those difficult conditions, something beautiful can still emerge. Beneath the guava's simple green exterior is a vibrant, delicate fruit—a reminder that our surroundings do not define what exists within us.

I believe the same is true of people. Even when life has been difficult, there is still strength, possibility, and beauty within. Sometimes, part of healing is simply learning how to find those things in yourself again.

Lifestyle-Informed Psychiatry

Mental health doesn't exist in isolation.

A whole-person approach considers the factors that shape how you feel, function, sleep, think, and live.

When clinically appropriate, lifestyle factors are considered alongside conventional psychiatric treatment rather than used as a replacement for it. Discussions may include sleep health, physical activity, stress management, and cardiometabolic and preventive health.

Where nutrition is a relevant factor, dietary patterns may be reviewed using validated tools such as the Mediterranean Diet Adherence Screener (MEDAS), REAP-S, and the Healthy Eating Index — helping identify practical opportunities for improvement. When appropriate, referrals to registered dietitians, exercise professionals, and sleep medicine specialists are coordinated as part of your broader care team.

Roger Jauregui, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Roger Jauregui is a bilingual, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) — a fully licensed advanced practice provider — with 14 years of combined healthcare experience across a genuinely diverse range of clinical settings.

Before specializing in psychiatry, Roger worked as a nursing supervisor, an ICU step-down nurse, a cardiology nurse, and an ER-setting healthcare provider caring for patients across the lifespan. That breadth of hospital-based experience continues to shape his whole-person approach to care.

He also brings nurse practitioner experience from California, where he practiced in both in-person and telehealth settings, caring for adolescents, adults, geriatric patients, and underserved populations experiencing ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, insomnia, and other psychiatric concerns.

His approach emphasizes careful diagnostic evaluation, evidence-based treatment, shared decision-making, and understanding the broader factors that influence each patient's mental and physical well-being.

Comprehensive ADHD & Bipolar Evaluations

Because ADHD and bipolar symptoms may overlap with anxiety, depression, trauma, sleep disorders, medical conditions, and other psychiatric presentations, these evaluations generally require a minimum of two comprehensive 60-minute appointments before establishing a diagnosis and determining the most appropriate treatment plan.

Schedule II controlled substances — including stimulant medications and benzodiazepines — are not currently offered, due to their extensive side effect and dependence profile. When a higher level of care is needed, appropriate referrals are provided.

Collaborative Care

Better care happens together.

Psychiatric treatment does not exist separately from therapy, primary care, or physical health. When appropriate and authorized by the patient, Jauregui Psychiatry welcomes collaboration with:

  • Therapists
  • Psychologists
  • Primary care clinicians
  • Specialists
  • Registered dietitians
  • Other members of the care team

Referring clinicians may receive diagnostic impressions, medication recommendations, and relevant treatment updates with the patient's authorization.
